Life through a Glass of Wine
As the sun rises, so do the effervescent bubbles in my flute
They welcome the day with upward energy and positive outlook
The goblet takes over mid morning, holding still life of grapes gone
Giving way to olives, pickles, breads, nuts, hams and to afternoon
Mid day wine offers a pairing for delicious nourishment
The true food and true drink of Jesus, who promises eternal life
Supper. Only for believers who look through distorted glass
To see their reflection upside down and backwards
You see, just like in Alice’s case, your glass will offer you
A fantastical world well beyond the one you are in
